Chris runs the Chuck Group out of 2.04e in 9West (Chemical Engineering). Chris is a Reader (Associate Professor) interested in developing novel renewable products and fuels from microbes and other renewable bioresources. Chris was made a Reader in May 2016, following a lectureship in 2015. Prior to this Chris held an independent Whorrod Research Fellowship in Sustainable Chemical Technologies from 2011. Chris is currently the Admissions Tutor for the Department and teaches on three Chemical Engineering modules; Science for Chemical Engineering, MSc in Sustainable Engineering and Chemical Engineering Skills and Practice 1, as well as final year design and third year research projects.
In 2004 he received his MChem from the University of York in Chemistry with Business Management. From there, he moved to the University of Bath to carry out his postgraduate studies under the supervision of Prof. Matthew Davidson in the Department of Chemistry. On finishing his PhD, he did a PDRA position with Prof. Gary Hawley in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. And ran his own consultancy firm aiding companies and stakeholders in the transformation of bioresources before returning to Academia in 2010.
